Sergeant Cameron Roden, in communication with the Daily Herald, verified that 43-year-old Alberto Marcano, a resident of Pleasant Grove, succumbed to injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle while he was in the process of changing a tire along the freeway.

The unfortunate event transpired shortly before 6:30 a.m. According to UHP reports, Marcano had pulled over onto the right shoulder of the northbound lanes close to the American Fork Pioneer Crossing exit, engaged in the task of replacing a flat tire.

At the time of the accident, Marcano was adorned in a reflective vest, and his hazard lights were illuminated.
