Fatal Tazewell County motorcycle crash death of Eric Bates – Obituary
A tragic incident unfolded in rural Mackinaw on Monday afternoon, claiming the life of a 73-year-old motorcyclist hailing from rural Towanda.
The unfortunate victim, identified as Eric Bates by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley, met his untimely demise when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Townline and Boston School roads.
According to Hanley, the collision not only resulted in Bates’ tragic passing but also caused injuries to an individual in the other vehicle involved in the accident, which was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Preliminary autopsy findings conducted by Hanley’s office revealed that Bates succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the crash.
As the community reels from the loss, both Hanley’s office and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office remain committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating and fatal incident.
