Fatal Raleigh, Wake County car crash death of Gerson Ivan Ambriz-Martin – Obituary
Responding to a collision on I-440 westbound near Capital Boulevard around 2:20 a.m., authorities found the aftermath of a tragic incident. Gerson Ivan Ambriz-Martin, aged 21, was behind the wheel of a 2013 Honda Civic, traveling in the wrong direction. Accompanying him were Yesenia Gutierrez Lopez, aged 32, and Matias Lopez Aldair Rivaldo, aged 24.
The collision occurred when Ambriz-Martin’s Honda Civic collided head-on with a 2018 Honda Accord, driven by 28-year-old Bianca Zena Powell, who was traveling westbound. The impact proved fatal for both drivers and claimed the lives of two passengers inside the Honda Civic.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there were a total of 59 wrong-way collisions in 2023, with 23 of them resulting in fatalities.
