Fatal Springfield pedestrian accident death of Rebecca Stauffer – Obituary

The individual who passed away after being struck by a vehicle on North Dirksen Parkway in Springfield on April 7 has been identified as 33-year-old Rebecca Stauffer, as confirmed by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.

According to preliminary autopsy findings, Stauffer, a resident of Greenview, succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the tragic incident.

The collision occurred close to a railroad overpass situated near the 3900 block of North Dirksen Parkway, shortly after 9:30 p.m. last Sunday.

Despite efforts, Stauffer could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene, as confirmed by Allmon.

A report from Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell indicates that a witness who contacted 911 reported that Stauffer was found in the roadway and was unresponsive.

The driver of a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe informed sheriff’s deputies that she initially believed she had collided with a shopping cart on the road.

After stopping her vehicle and stepping out, she realized that it was Stauffer who was lying in the roadway.

Law enforcement officers have interviewed the driver and other individuals who witnessed the tragic accident.

As of now, no charges have been pressed in relation to the incident.
