Peoria County’s coroner, Jamie Harwood, has officially named the individual who lost his life in a scooter accident on Monday.

In an announcement made via Harwood’s Facebook page, it was revealed that 35-year-old Shadrick Johnson was urgently transported to OSF Healthcare in critical condition. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, Johnson was declared deceased in the Trauma Room shortly after 5 p.m.

Johnson succumbed to severe blunt force trauma sustained from colliding with a car while riding his scooter.

Upon investigation, authorities concluded that Johnson had disregarded a stop sign before the collision occurred at the intersection of Arago and Grinnell Streets in South Peoria. Fortunately, the driver of the car emerged from the incident unharmed.

Pending toxicology reports will provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
