Fatal Rutland car crash claims life of Janet B. Neild – Obituary**
A press release from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, June 24, identified Janet B. Neild, 87, of Evansville, as the victim who succumbed to injuries from a car accident on the morning of June 5 at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and Old Stage Road in the Town of Rutland.
Further testing is in progress, and the case is still under investigation by both the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, deputies and EMS were dispatched to a collision involving an SUV and a semi-truck at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and Old Stage Road in Rutland.
Witnesses stated that the SUV driver, heading west on Old Stage Road, pulled out in front of the northbound semi-truck on Hwy. 14. The driver of the SUV was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was unharmed.
Traffic was diverted for several hours to allow investigators to reconstruct the crash and gather evidence.
