Fatal Greensboro hit-and-run death of Gayle Steele – Obituary**

Authorities from the Greensboro Police Department are searching for a man from the Triad area after a fatal hit-and-run incident.

On Thursday, June 20, at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers responded to a call about a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of West Cone Boulevard and Dellwood Drive.

The victim, identified as 70-year-old Gayle Steele, was struck at the intersection and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, heading east on West Cone Boulevard from Dellwood Drive.

Officials have since identified the suspect’s vehicle as a silver Toyota Corolla from the late 2000s. The car is believed to have front-end damage, a shattered windshield, a potential flat tire, and a missing windshield wiper arm. Parts of the vehicle, including the front Toyota emblem and grill pieces, were found at the scene.

On June 28, the Greensboro Police Department announced that they had identified the driver as Manuel Parada-Sosa and issued a warrant for his arrest. The charges against Parada-Sosa include involuntary manslaughter, speeding, careless and reckless driving, felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death, driving with a revoked license, hit-and-run resulting in property damage, misdemeanor death by vehicle, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and failure to reduce speed.

Investigators believe that Parada-Sosa, 25, fled the area before authorities located his vehicle on June 22, following a tip. The warrant for his arrest was issued on the same day.
