Fatal McKinney plane crash death of Michael Lewis – Obituary

The two individuals who perished in a plane crash in McKinney on Thursday morning have been identified. Michael Lewis, a 67-year-old pilot from Forney, and Gustavo Moreno, a 53-year-old passenger from Royse City, were killed when their twin-engine Cessna 414 went down into a construction site shortly after departing from McKinney National Airport, according to Texas DPS.

Michael Lewis was married to Amanda Lewis, the former mayor of Forney. Another passenger, Randy Williams, aged 35, was severely injured in the incident. Williams was transported to Parkland Hospital, where he remains under treatment.

A cellphone video captured the harrowing aftermath of the crash, showing the fiery wreckage of the Cessna in McKinney on Thursday afternoon. Despite the tragic loss of two lives, workers managed to pull a third passenger from the wreckage, who was then rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

FAA records reveal that the aircraft was registered to Hunger Relief Ministries, a non-profit organization in Forney that collaborates with food pantries. The NTSB arrived on Friday to spearhead the investigation into the cause of the crash.
