Fatal St. Paul East Side shooting death of Royce D. McKinney – Obituary
Royce D. McKinney, aged 22 and a resident of St. Paul, was discovered within a vehicle that collided late Monday near York Avenue and Van Dyke Street in the Eastern Hazel Park neighborhood, as reported by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and St. Paul police.
Legal charges are anticipated to be brought against a 17-year-old male, who was apprehended Tuesday morning during a traffic stop under suspicion of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm, stated Police Sergeant Mike Ernster.
Following the shooting incident on Monday night, law enforcement responded to the location around 10:30 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunfire and a vehicle crashing into a tree, Ernster detailed.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an SUV situated on the boulevard on Van Dyke Street’s east side, with an individual inside suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, Ernster recounted. Police administered initial medical aid until paramedics arrived and pronounced the individual deceased, Ernster concluded.
