The driver who lost his life Tuesday morning when his tri-axle logging truck veered off Route 220 and ended up in dense brush in Woodward Township, just south of the city line, has been identified as William Mundy from Avis. Investigators have concluded that the 61-year-old Clinton County resident succumbed to natural causes, as stated by Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.
Mundy was driving north on Route 220 when he suddenly swerved off the road, traveling between 50 to 70 yards into the brush and hitting several trees, Kiessling reported. The incident happened around 6:30 a.m., causing traffic to be reduced to one lane for approximately five hours, according to a spokesperson from the state Department of Transportation.
