Fatal Wilson County shooting death of Bailey Gardner – Obituary
A suspect has been taken into custody and accused of involvement in what authorities describe as a fatal robbery at a marina in Wilson County at the end of last month.
Adrian A. McLean, aged 40, faces charges including first-degree murder and multiple counts of aggravated robbery in connection with the incident, according to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. McLean was apprehended Wednesday morning in Nashville.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Bailey Gardner from Kansas, was fatally shot during the early morning of June 29 outside Cedar Creek Marina, located at 9120 Saundersville Road.
Law enforcement officials have characterized Gardner as an innocent bystander.
Authorities believe Gardner was shot in the aftermath of an armed robbery incident.
Mt. Juliet police responded to a robbery call at the marina’s restaurant shortly before reports of the shooting, according to the department.
During the robbery, three armed individuals reportedly attacked restaurant staff, resulting in two staff members being assaulted and coerced into opening a cash safe, police stated.
Gardner was discovered in his vehicle.
Responding officers attempted to administer aid to Gardner until medical personnel arrived, but he succumbed to his injuries, as per law enforcement.
Although the restaurant falls within Mt. Juliet’s city limits, the parking lot where Gardner was found is under Wilson County’s jurisdiction, officials clarified.
Investigators continue their efforts to apprehend the two other suspects believed to be involved in the incident.
