Fatal Douglas County car crash death of Brody Minton – Obituary
A tragic incident claimed the life of a Kansas teenager near Clinton Lake in Douglas County.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Brody Minton of Lawrence, was reported missing by family members earlier this week. Law enforcement officials launched an extensive search effort, focusing on the campgrounds at Clinton Lake, in hopes of locating him and his vehicle.
On Tuesday, shortly after 5:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call from an individual who had discovered tracks in the vicinity and eventually located a vehicle in a wooded area east of the road in the 900 Block of N 1150 Road. Inside the vehicle, a 1997 Nissan Altima, they found Brody Minton.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. As part of their investigation, deputies temporarily closed East 900 Road, also known as the dam road at Clinton Lake.
Authorities continue to gather information to understand the events leading to this tragic car crash.
