Charges have been lodged against a suspect detained in connection with the shooting death of a man discovered at 6700 Cours Street around 11:20 p.m. on June 18.
The accused, Roosevelt Lane Brimzy, aged 45, faces a murder charge in the 339th State District Court. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Dendre Deboest, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow, R. Watson, along with Detectives M. Perez and J. Diaz, stated that HPD patrol officers were called to investigate an auto-pedestrian incident at the junction of Cours Street and Lynnfield Street. They discovered an unconscious man lying on the road. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and pronounced the man, later identified as Deboest, deceased.
Initial inquiries revealed that Deboest had not been struck by a vehicle but had sustained at least one gunshot wound. No witnesses or suspects were immediately identified.
Further investigation pinpointed Brimzy as the primary suspect in the case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was informed, and subsequently, charges were filed against Brimzy in connection with the incident. On Monday, July 15, Brimzy was apprehended by the HPD Westside Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team without any issues and placed in custody at the Harris County Jail.
