Fatal Shooting in East Providence Claims Life of Victim
Fatal East Providence shooting death of Abel Nolasco – Obituary
East Providence law enforcement officials have apprehended three suspects involved in an armed robbery and shooting within the city. The individuals have been identified as:
– Abel Nolasco (born 02/09/1986) from Bronx, New York
– David Ramos (born 11/07/1990) from Bronx, New York
– Alex Manuel Jesus Marte (born 02/14/1996) from Providence, RI
These suspects face a multitude of charges including first-degree robbery, conspiracy, possession of a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm during a crime, firing a firearm from a motor vehicle, possession of a large capacity ammunition device, receiving stolen property, shooting in a confined area, and disorderly conduct. Moreover, Ramos and Jesus Marte are being detained by ICE for illegally reentering the United States, East Providence Police reported.
According to East Providence authorities, the incident transpired when shots were fired at a victim at approximately 9:00 AM on Tuesday in the vicinity of James Street near Waterman Avenue. The victim approached a police officer who was stationed at a traffic control point and furnished descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle.
Several officers and detectives promptly responded to the scene, locating a red Honda CRV that had collided at the intersection of James Street and Blanding Avenue. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots and guided law enforcement officers towards the direction where the three suspects had absconded on foot.
A perimeter was established and focus was centered on the Central Avenue playground area, where the suspects were ultimately found concealed behind a skate ramp. Police indicated that the apprehension of all three suspects was conducted without any resistance. Additionally, a loaded firearm was recovered in close proximity to the suspects.
“Positive identification of the three suspects has not been made. Suspect names and criminal charges will be released pending further investigation by detectives. This is an isolated incident,” stated East Providence Police.
