Authorities reported a deadly shooting in Spring where 19-year-old John Dennis Holmes III was fatally shot on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the 300 block of Raypine Drive near the intersection of I-45 North Freeway and Rayford Road. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Holmes was shot by an assailant wearing a ski mask.
Following the shooting, law enforcement launched a manhunt for the gunman, deploying drones in the vicinity and advising residents to secure their homes and remain indoors. The shooting, which occurred around 6:40 p.m., resulted in Holmes being found deceased in the middle of the street. Officials noted the presence of children nearby during the incident but did not report any additional injuries.
Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male with a slender build, dressed in a black hoodie adorned with a white pattern, blue pants, and a ski mask. Although investigators believe there was some prior acquaintance between the suspect and the victim, the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
