Fatal Huntersville crash death of Michael Bradley Benjamin – Obituary
One individual was taken into custody after reportedly fleeing from a deadly collision in Huntersville on Tuesday night.
According to Huntersville law enforcement officials, they were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on Statesville Road close to Mount Holly-Huntersville Road at approximately 8 p.m. At the site, one of the drivers was discovered deceased, while another sustained severe injuries.
Authorities indicated that the third driver, identified as 31-year-old Michael Bradley Benjamin, was apprehended shortly afterward with the assistance of a Huntersville Police K9 unit, following an attempt to escape on foot from the scene of the accident.
Benjamin faces charges including felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run involving serious injury and/or death, driving under the influence, and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a police officer.
The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation, although preliminary reports suggest that excessive speed and alcohol may have played contributing roles.
