Steven Drinkwalter dies in fatal Dundy County, Neb. semi-train collision.

Fatal Dundy County semi-train crash claims the life of Steven Drinkwalter – Obituary.

Authorities in Dundy County have released the identities of the victims involved in a tragic semi versus train collision in southwest Nebraska.

The collision, which occurred on Tuesday, happened near Highway 34, approximately five miles west of Haigler, according to the Dundy County Sheriff’s Office.

Preliminary reports indicate that 46-year-old Matthew Drinkwalter was driving the semi and attempted to cross the tracks before the oncoming train struck the vehicle.

Sadly, 61-year-old Steven Drinkwalter, a passenger in the semi, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Matthew Drinkwalter was also transported to the hospital for further medical care, though the severity of his injuries has not yet been disclosed.

The crash site was temporarily closed off to clear the wreckage, but officials confirmed that the area has since been reopened.
