Police in Arizona have confirmed that Doris Aguilar, a 25-year-old woman who had been missing, was among two individuals discovered shot to death earlier this month in a parking lot. Alongside her, authorities identified 51-year-old Juan Cuellar as the other victim.
Aguilar, who went missing on July 1, was found on July 7 in a parking lot near 75th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. The bodies of Aguilar and Cuellar were discovered inside a vehicle, which was not Aguilar’s, suggesting that the car had been there for several days.
The Maricopa County medical examiner has confirmed Aguilar’s identity, though the exact cause of death is still under investigation. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle where Aguilar was found.
Police have indicated that Cuellar took his own life. Aguilar’s family and private investigator Steve Fischer suspect that Cuellar had been stalking Aguilar. Family members reported that Aguilar had expressed concerns about a persistent stalker, and Fischer revealed that Cuellar had been employed in the same building as Aguilar until his dismissal a year prior. Fischer also noted that Cuellar had continued to send threatening messages to Aguilar.
Aguilar was reported missing by her family on July 1, with her vehicle found abandoned outside the Christown Spectrum shopping center in Phoenix. The car was unlocked, and most of her personal items were left inside.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, according to detectives.
