Aaden Bailey dies in tragic Houston shooting
Fatal Houston shooting death of Aaden Bailey – Obituary
The Bailey family in Houston is grappling with profound grief following the tragic shooting of their 15-year-old son, Aaden Bailey, on Tuesday night. In an exclusive interview with FOX 26, they expressed their deep sorrow and urgent plea for an end to the rampant gun violence impacting the city’s youth.
Aaden’s mother, Andraea Marshall, spoke through tears, describing her emotional turmoil. “I’m overwhelmed with a mix of heartbreak, anger, and numbness,” Marshall said.
Houston police are continuing their investigation into the shooting, which involved two separate incidents related to teenagers. Authorities suspect that these incidents might be linked.
Marshall, urging for greater intervention, said, “Our children are at risk from the streets and social media. We need to reclaim them.”
The rising trend of youth violence, particularly gun-related incidents, has become an increasing concern for families across Houston.
DaRoy Cook, Aaden’s stepfather, lamented, “Every year, it seems to get worse, and the age of the victims keeps getting younger. It’s hard to know where to begin.”
Marshall does not wish for her son’s death to become a political issue, although she acknowledges that firearm accessibility must be addressed. “If his death can prevent someone else from going through this pain, I’m willing to endure it. I want his legacy to make a difference,” she added.
Aaden, who was known for his passion for singing, rapping, and sports, was a promising sophomore at Elsik High School in the Alief Independent School District. His parents are heartbroken over the milestones they will never see him achieve, such as prom and graduation.
“It’s unfair. We’ve been robbed of watching him reach those moments,” Cook said, reflecting their sorrow.
On the night of the shooting, Aaden had texted his mother just before his stepfather dropped him off at a friend’s house. “He texted me saying, ‘Mom, I’m leaving now. My stepdad is dropping me off, and I’ll see you tomorrow,’” Marshall recalled. Sadly, that tomorrow never came.
FOX 26 Houston is now accessible on the FOX LOCAL app, available on Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV, Samsung TV, and Vizio!
Marshall, who views Aaden as her forever baby and firstborn Valentine’s Day child, shared their final words to him: “We love you, Aaden. We wish you the best and want you to achieve all your dreams. Remember to clean your room.”
Marshall expressed her trust in the Houston Police Department, believing they are diligently working to uncover the truth and bring justice for her son.
Aaden was deeply cherished by his community, and his family is receiving an outpouring of support. Funeral services are planned for Houston and Delaware. A vigil and balloon release in Aaden’s honor will be held on Saturday at 4:00 pm at 4427 Belle Park Drive.
