Fatal Panama Lane car crash claims the life of Maria Delosangeles Ontiveros – Obituary
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a head-on collision on Panama Lane as 58-year-old Maria Delosangeles Ontiveros from Arvin.
The California Highway Patrol reported that on July 11, 2024, around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a head-on crash involving two vehicles on Panama Lane, east of Vineland Road.
According to CHP, Ontiveros was driving a Hyundai eastbound on Panama Lane at an unknown speed. Heading westbound on the same road was a 40-year-old Arvin man driving a GMC at roughly 25 miles per hour.

For reasons yet to be determined, Ontiveros veered into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with the GMC.

The GMC driver sustained severe injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center.
Tragically, Ontiveros, the Hyundai driver, did not survive the crash.
According to CHP, alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
