Fatal Sussex County crash death of Djifenson Dorilus – Obituary
A devastating two-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning has claimed the life of Djifenson Dorilus, a 22-year-old from Salisbury, Maryland. The collision occurred on July 17, 2024, at approximately 12:59 AM on Sussex Highway near Newtown Road. Dorilus was driving a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound when it encountered a 2017 Dodge Durango traveling in the same direction but in the wrong lane.
In an attempt to avoid a head-on crash, both vehicles veered into the northbound lane, resulting in a collision. The Hyundai overturned and ended up between the shoulder and the right lane, while the Dodge came to a stop at the centerline.
Dorilus suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he unfortunately passed away on July 18. The Dodge’s driver, a 46-year-old from Millsboro, Delaware, was also hospitalized with significant injuries.
The crash caused a road closure of approximately three hours as emergency personnel managed the scene and began their investigation. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively looking into the accident to identify contributing factors and potential charges.
