The Henrico County Police Division has pinpointed two potential vehicle makes and models linked to a hit-and-run incident that left a mother dead and her baby injured on July 5.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 25-year-old Howquana Kara Bugg was walking east along the westbound shoulder in the 5700 block of Nine Mile Road. She was struck by a vehicle traveling in the eastbound right lane while carrying her 21-month-old child.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene, heading towards Highland Springs, according to police reports.
Bugg succumbed to her injuries and passed away at a local hospital on July 9, four days after the accident. As of a July 10 update, her infant remains hospitalized with serious injuries. 8News reached out to the police for the latest information on the child’s condition but has not received a response at the time of reporting.

In a press release dated July 22, police indicated that the investigation had identified two potential makes and models of the suspect’s car, based on evidence gathered from the scene.
