Jessica Reyes dies in fatal Villa Park stabbing

Fatal Villa Park stabbing death of Jessica Reyes – Obituary

Last week, police arrested a Villa Park man in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

Anthony Jimenez, 26, faces two counts of first-degree murder for the killing of 24-year-old Jessica Reyes, authorities reported.

Reyes, who served six years in the military, was remembered on her family’s GoFundMe page.

Police were called to an apartment in the 1600 block of South Michigan Avenue in Villa Park around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jimenez, who had blood on his hands and chest, met officers at the door and confessed to stabbing Reyes.

Officers found Reyes bleeding on the floor of a back bedroom. They provided aid until medics arrived, who then transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 11:30 a.m.

Earlier that morning, around 8 a.m., Jimenez and Reyes had a heated argument. Reyes climbed down from their third-floor balcony to the parking lot because Jimenez refused to let her leave, according to the police.

After calming down, Jimenez spoke with Reyes in the parking lot, and they both returned to the apartment.

When the argument resumed, Reyes began gathering her belongings. At that point, Jimenez pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed her in the side of the head.

Despite Reyes’ attempts to defend herself, Jimenez continued stabbing her multiple times in the neck, face, arms, chest, and hands. He only ceased his attack when his mother entered the room, authorities said.

Reyes’ family launched a GoFundMe page in her memory, describing her as “the most selfless, resilient, and goofiest human being.”

“She accomplished amazing things in her 24 years of life,” the page noted. “No matter what, she was there for people who needed her.”

Villa Park Police Chief Michael Rivas condemned Jimenez’s actions as “horrific.”

“When the facts of the case are revealed, there is no doubt the accused should face the full force of our justice system,” Chief Rivas stated.

A DuPage County judge has ordered Jimenez to remain in jail until his trial.
