Fatal Waterbury car crash death of Mark Sousa – Obituary
Authorities have identified three of the four victims in a deadly head-on collision in Waterbury on Friday night.
Responding to a call at approximately 11 p.m., officers arrived at Thomaston Avenue to find an Audi A7 and a Lexus GS300 engulfed in flames following a head-on collision, according to police reports.
The driver of the Lexus has been identified as 44-year-old Mark Sousa, who was alone in the vehicle.
The Audi’s driver, identified as 26-year-old Shar’ref Mahan from West Hartford, had two passengers in his car.
One of the Audi’s passengers was 25-year-old Danaya Foster of Waterbury, seated in the back.
Authorities are still working with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner to identify the front-seat passenger of the Audi.
The crash occurred in the northbound lane on the 600 block of Thomaston Avenue.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both vehicles were speeding before the collision.
The Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the incident.
