A 15-year-old boy, identified as Rene Graham, has been tragically killed in a shooting at a park in west London.
Emergency services arrived at Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove around 7:20 PM BST on Sunday, responding to the incident. At the time, a children’s pre-carnival event was reportedly underway at the park.
Four men, aged 20, 21, 21, and 25, have been detained on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.
The Metropolitan Police have stated that there have been no other reported injuries from the shooting.
Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah expressed her understanding of the community’s shock and anxiety, emphasizing that the Metropolitan Police are fully committed to using all available resources to track down those responsible.
Local resident Cristina Cortinas, 40, described the event as a “tragedy” and a deeply distressing situation for the community. She shared her concerns about the safety of her own children and the impact on local families, expressing that the neighborhood is experiencing profound shock and fear. Cortinas noted that the community is united in its sadness over the loss of a young life.
