Fatal Washington Township shooting death of Brian Mackie – Obituary

A man who succumbed to injuries following a shooting during a reported domestic disturbance in Washington Township has been named as Brian Mackie, 28.

The incident occurred early Friday afternoon in the 10400 block of Dayton-Lebanon Pike, as confirmed by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence located near Immanuel Korean Church and north of East Social Row Road shortly after 11:50 a.m.

Upon their arrival, they discovered Mackie with a gunshot wound inside the house. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 27-year-old woman was taken into custody along with other individuals present in the home at the time of the shooting. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the preliminary findings suggest the shooting was connected to a domestic dispute, with the male victim being shot during the altercation.

A woman who placed a 911 call reported that she shot Mackie in the chest in a back bedroom. She described the incident saying, “My boyfriend was attacking me, and I had to use a firearm to defend myself.”

The sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit is handling the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
