Authorities have launched an investigation following the discovery of a 19-year-old’s body in a car filled with bullet holes on the Eastex Freeway feeder road early Monday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived at the scene located at the 12900 block of the northbound feeder road, near the intersection with Lauder Road, around 9:15 a.m.
The deceased, identified as Jusnz Joseph, was found slumped in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office reported.
Officials confirmed that the death was the result of a drive-by shooting.
According to investigators, an individual in a dark-colored SUV or crossover vehicle approached Joseph’s car at the Lauder Road intersection and fired numerous rounds before escaping the area.
ABC13’s SkyEye captured footage of the scene, showing the red Cadillac parked in the middle of the road, with bullet holes visible in both the front and back windshields and shattered glass on the rear window.
Currently, authorities have not released any details about the suspects or their possible connection to the victim.
“We do not have a description of the suspects at this time,” said Sgt. Jason Brown of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “We are reviewing video footage from the area, which includes some clear shots of the shooting, and are working on tracking the suspect vehicle for further identification.”
The sheriff’s office has not yet determined whether road rage was a factor, although it appears unlikely. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain if the attack was targeted.
