Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Kevion D. Bifford – Obituary
Authorities have identified Kevion D. Bifford, 37, as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Friday evening. Bifford was discovered unresponsive with a gunshot wound on Van Brunt Boulevard, close to Interstate 70.
According to Captain Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, officers on patrol heard gunfire near the intersection of 31st and Van Brunt Boulevard around 6:30 p.m.
This led them to a car wash, where Bifford was found. Emergency personnel declared him deceased at the scene.
Police suspect that Bifford was shot near the exit ramp of I-70 onto Van Brunt Boulevard.
Investigators are currently searching for witnesses and gathering evidence to piece together the circumstances leading up to the shooting. As of Saturday, no further details have been released.
This incident brings the total number of homicides in Kansas City for the year to 57, as reported by The Star, which includes deaths resulting from police shootings.
In comparison, there were 68 homicides at the same point last year, according to the same data source.
