Earlier this week, a tragic incident occurred in the Clifton neighborhood of Louisville, where a woman identified as 40-year-old Melyssa Stevenson was struck and killed by a train.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Stevenson’s identity and reported that the accident happened Tuesday morning on Stoll Avenue, near Arlington Avenue, off Frankfort Avenue.
A call about the collision was received by MetroSafe around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, when officers arrived on the scene, they found Stevenson on the CSX tracks and determined she had died instantly. The train conductor had reportedly sounded the horn to alert Stevenson, but the train was unable to stop in time.
