Fatal Santa Cruz drowning death of Pedro David Guadarrama Ceron and Emma Nelly Diazleal Lopez – Obituary
The identities of the two individuals who tragically drowned near West Cliff in Santa Cruz have been confirmed.
The victims, Pedro David Guadarrama Ceron, aged 30, and Emma Nelly Diazleal Lopez, aged 33, both from San Jose, were reported to have fallen into the water on July 16.
The U.S. Coast Guard Station Monterey relayed that their teams were dispatched at approximately 6:15 p.m. following reports of individuals falling into the water near the intersection of West Cliff Drive and David Way.
Initial findings from the Santa Cruz Fire Department indicate that the victims were standing on the rocks in that area when a powerful wave pulled them into the ocean. When first responders arrived, both individuals were discovered floating face-down in the water.
The Santa Cruz Fire Department has issued a reminder for everyone to remain vigilant and never turn their backs on the ocean, as well as to stay informed about tidal conditions.
