Fatal Don Mills stabbing death of Robert and Ulrike Miller – Obituary
Residents of a serene, tree-lined neighborhood near Don Mills and Steeles Avenue were stunned and heartbroken this weekend when an elderly couple was tragically killed in what authorities are treating as a murder-suicide.
According to police, they were alerted to a knife-related incident around 3 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with stab wounds inside a residence. Both victims, who were in their 80s, succumbed to their injuries despite emergency medical efforts, as reported by Acting Duty Inspector Jeff Bassingthwaite.
Constable Shannon Eames confirmed that there are no suspects at large, indicating that the individual responsible is believed to be one of the deceased found at the scene, in an email to Global News on Monday.
The victims have been identified by neighbors as Robert Miller and his wife Ulrike, affectionately known as Rikki. The Millers, who had two sons, had resided in their two-story home for approximately 30 to 40 years.
In 2015, Robert was severely injured in a car accident but eventually returned home. His wife Rikki, a retired nurse, cared for him diligently. Lin Jung Tan, a nearby resident, shared that Rikki was dedicated to looking after Robert, who used a wheelchair and needed regular medical appointments. Tan remarked that the couple was exceptionally caring toward one another, conveyed through a neighbor who translated.
