The marathon community is in mourning following the tragic passing of Robert Kennedy, a dedicated Boston Marathon runner from Durham, New Hampshire. On Saturday morning around 10 a.m., Newington police responded to a bicycle accident on Little Bay Road.
Authorities reported that Kennedy, participating in the “Bikes and Beers” cycling event, lost control of his bike while riding with a group and fell to the ground. Kennedy sustained a severe head injury and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died that same day.
Throughout his life, Kennedy completed 19 Boston Marathons and was among the oldest participants from New Hampshire at the age of 76. His commitment to the event also included raising over $300,000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Additionally, he achieved the remarkable feat of completing marathons in all 50 states on three separate occasions.
