Thomas Nelson dies in fatal Ketchikan incident
Fatal Ketchikan incident claims the life of Thomas Nelson – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that a body discovered inside a bus near Ketchikan belongs to Thomas Nelson, a 61-year-old man who owned and lived in the vehicle.
Nelson, who had been missing since December, was last seen in October at a nearby convenience store across from where his bus was parked in Saxman, just south of Ketchikan. Security cameras captured footage of him returning to his bus that same day.
On July 14, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report about a possible deceased person and detected a foul odor emanating from Nelson’s bus. The door was locked from the inside, but with assistance from the fire department, they managed to gain entry and found Nelson’s decomposed body inside. Authorities noted that the body had been there for several months and found no signs of struggle, suicide, or drug use in the bus.
The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage, where they were identified as Nelson on Monday.
This story is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge.
