Fatal Trumbull County plane crash death of Jawdat Khawam – Obituary
A tragic plane crash on Friday night in Trumbull County claimed the lives of a pilot and two passengers from Quebec.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, situated near State Route 11 and King Graves Road in Fowler Township. Emergency services received a call at 7:09 p.m. about a small aircraft attempting an emergency landing at the air reserve station before it went down.
The crash resulted in the deaths of the pilot, Jawdat Khawam, aged 54, and his passengers, Martine Arseneault, 45, and an eight-year-old girl, Daphne Khawam. All three individuals were from Laval, Quebec.
Responding to the scene were the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, Howland police, Vienna police, and Vienna firefighters.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol described the plane as a fixed-wing, multi-engine aircraft that crashed near a runway.
Both the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Federal Aviation Administration are conducting investigations into the accident.
