Brandy Rodgers dies in fatal Carroll County car crash
A tragic accident on Interstate 20 in Carroll County has left one person dead and another injured.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the collision occurred when a white Honda, driven by 39-year-old Brandy Rodgers of Oxford, Alabama, collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer.
Rodgers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident, which happened shortly after 4 p.m., led to the closure of all westbound lanes past the Carrollton Street exit. These lanes have since been reopened.
During the closure, traffic was rerouted at State Route 61, causing a significant backup that extended east of the Tyson Road overpass. U.S. 78, running parallel to I-20, also experienced congestion as drivers sought alternate routes.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
