Fatal Phoenix apartment fire shooting death of Dorian Rice – Obituary
A second suspect, Dorian Rice, 53, has been apprehended in connection with a recent Phoenix apartment fire that led to the discovery of three deceased individuals, according to local authorities.
Rice faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder and armed robbery, in relation to this triple homicide case, the Phoenix Police Department reported.
The investigation into Rice’s involvement began on July 15, following the Phoenix Fire Department’s efforts to extinguish a blaze at an apartment complex in Ahwatukee, near the intersection of 48th Street and Warner Road.
Firefighters discovered the bodies of 27-year-old Merissa Honeycutt, 25-year-old Anthony Frederickson-Ceccarelli, and 37-year-old Samuel Lott, who exhibited signs of trauma not related to the fire itself.
Authorities determined that the victims were murdered the day before the fire. Last week, Chase Christman, 30, was arrested and charged with three counts of murder and one count of weapons misconduct, with his bail set at $5 million.
According to Sgt. Rob Scherer, Christman admitted to being present at the apartment but did not confess to the murders.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified Rice as another suspect after learning he was seen with Christman around the time of the murders.
During questioning, Rice reportedly confessed to driving Christman to the apartment for a planned robbery and then transporting him away from the crime scene. Christman was scheduled for his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
