Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi Dies in Burlington

Burlington  Death of Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi – Obituary

Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, who was awaiting sentencing for the manslaughter of her husband, University of Connecticut professor Pierluigi Bigazzi, was discovered deceased at her Burlington home on Wednesday, according to state police.

State police reported that on Thursday morning, a call came from a person at a residence on Smith Lane in Burlington who was unable to reach the resident. Authorities from Troop L in Litchfield attempted to contact anyone inside but were unsuccessful. With the help of the local fire department, they gained entry and found an unresponsive individual, later identified as Kosuda-Bigazzi, 76, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kosuda-Bigazzi had previously admitted guilt to charges of first-degree manslaughter and first-degree larceny. She was alleged to have killed her husband and continued to collect his paycheck from UConn while his body remained concealed in their home for several months, as stated by the state Division of Criminal Justice.

The investigation is ongoing, and the scene remains cordoned off. Police have indicated that the circumstances surrounding Kosuda-Bigazzi’s death are still being examined.

UConn Health only learned of Pierluigi Bigazzi’s death in February 2018, despite payments being made into a joint account for over 11 weeks after his death. Kosuda-Bigazzi reportedly documented in a journal that she killed her husband in self-defense during a confrontation.

The case, which was set to proceed to trial, saw Kosuda-Bigazzi’s guilty plea in March, with her sentencing scheduled for Thursday. State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott expressed relief at the resolution of the case, which had been pending for six years.
