Fatal Richland County detention center death of Marty J. Brown – Obituary
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the two men discovered deceased at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on consecutive days. Marty J. Brown, aged 25, was found dead on Monday, and 54-year-old Lamont Powell was discovered on Tuesday, according to Rutherford.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has labeled both cases as “suspicious” while awaiting further investigation and autopsy results.
WIS News 10 has reported that this year, there have been four inmate fatalities at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Currently, the Richland County jail faces intense scrutiny from both state and federal authorities. The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating allegations concerning civil rights violations.
