Fatal Wilmington stabbing death of Mayra Oviedo Orellana – Obituary

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the 43-year-old woman who died after being stabbed in Wilmington. The incident, which also left a man injured, occurred early Sunday morning.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that officers arrived at the 900 block of North Banning Boulevard, close to Anaheim Street, just before 12:40 a.m. They discovered both a man and a woman with stab wounds.

The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The victim was later named as Mayra Oviedo Orellana by the Medical Examiner.

The second victim, a 39-year-old man, was transported to a hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 19-year-old Henry Briones, who was apprehended at the scene and charged with murder. At this time, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
