Fatal Salem Township drowning death of Melanie Lamb – Obituary
The Columbiana County Coroner is awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death for Melanie Lamb, who may have drowned at her Salem Township residence last Friday.
In the meantime, William Hively, a resident of the same home as 56-year-old Lamb, faces legal consequences for allegedly obstructing EMTs as they attempted to revive her.
According to the criminal complaint, Hively, who is 53, threatened to kill the Emergency Medical Technicians while they were performing life-saving measures on Lamb. The complaint states that Hively, reportedly under the influence, ignored commands to stay away from both Lamb and the EMTs.
On Monday, Hively entered a plea of “not guilty” to charges of aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. A subsequent court appearance is scheduled for August 1.
The coroner’s office will not release the official cause of Lamb’s death until the necessary tests are completed.
