Fatal El Paso shooting death of Omar Infante Jr. – Obituary
Two 19-year-old men have been apprehended and charged with murder following the death of a 24-year-old man in a shooting incident in far East El Paso this past Saturday, as reported by El Paso Police.
The individuals charged are Noah Daniel Lomeli and Damian Alexander De La Riva, both of whom are now held in the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $1 million bond each.
Omar Infante Jr., aged 24, was tragically shot and killed around 4 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at the Gonzalez Place Apartments in far East El Paso.
According to court records, a small gathering took place that morning at an apartment, where Infante, De La Riva, Lomeli, and two witnesses were present. An argument erupted between Infante and Lomeli over their conflicting gang affiliations.
Court documents reveal that Lomeli admitted to Infante that he was associated with the “6th street gang,” a group known to law enforcement in El Paso.
Following the dispute, the group was ejected from the apartment by a witness. Infante and Lomeli agreed to settle their differences with a fight and proceeded to the parking lot area via the building’s stairwell.
During their altercation, both men drew handguns and aimed them at Infante. Infante, with his hands raised, attempted to retreat. Video evidence shows a shot being fired, hitting Infante and causing him to collapse. Afterward, Infante was reportedly assaulted further, being beaten, stomped, and pistol-whipped.
Another gunshot was heard during the incident, and both suspects were seen removing an unidentified item from Infante’s torso before fleeing. Lomeli allegedly took a photo of Infante while he was on the ground before escaping with De La Riva in a vehicle.
Infante was found to have sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and head. The suspects were later identified through booking photographs and a photo lineup.
