Fatal Sacramento shooting death of Sara Jane Beebe – Obituary
Sara Jane Beebe, 43, was discovered dead around 6 a.m. on July 16 by Sacramento Police officers following reports of an altercation on the 1300 block of North C Street.
Authorities noted that she had sustained at least one puncture wound.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office confirmed Beebe’s identity on Wednesday.
The day after the incident, Sacramento police announced the arrest of 54-year-old Kevin Birdsong, who is now facing murder charges. Birdsong has been detained at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on August 15.
The nonprofit organization Loaves and Fishes, which provides services for the homeless, closed its campus for the first time in 41 years on the day of the incident.
They issued a statement expressing their sorrow, noting that Beebe was a cherished member of their community. “She was a familiar face at Maryhouse, Friendship Park, and our Dining Room,” the statement said. “We shared countless moments of joy and sorrow with her. Her absence will be deeply felt.”
Loaves and Fishes reopened the next day.
