Shane Killian dies in fatal Alameda shooting

Fatal Alameda shooting death of Shane Killian – Obituary

In a shocking turn of events, Shane Killian, 54, has been accused of orchestrating a brutal quintuple homicide involving his own family and in-laws. After the tragedy on July 10, Killian reportedly called 911 not to confess but to falsely accuse his wife of the horrific act, according to authorities.

Shortly after the massacre, Killian is said to have contacted emergency services, urgently saying, “my wife,” and asking for help. He then allegedly told the dispatcher, “My wife has shot all of us and shot my children.”

Following the call, Killian emerged from his residence, where Alameda police were waiting. He was promptly arrested and has remained in custody. Initially charged with four counts of murder, the charges were updated to five with the recent death of his 1-year-old son, Wesley.

The other victims have been identified as Killian’s 6-year-old son William Killian, 36-year-old wife Brenda Natali Morales, 70-year-old father-in-law Miguel Angel Carcamo Ramirez, and 64-year-old mother-in-law Marta Elena Morales Diaz. Each died from gunshot wounds. Killian’s wife was discovered on the floor, clutching the unregistered pistol believed to have been used in the crime.

Investigators found additional firearms in the home, including two rifles, two pistols, a machete, a BB gun, and numerous ammunition boxes. After his arrest, Killian reportedly cooperated with detectives but continued to insist that his wife was the perpetrator. He claimed he had narrowly escaped injury due to divine intervention as she fired at him.

However, Killian’s story was contradicted by Carcamo Ramirez’s dying declaration, in which he reportedly told a neighbor he had been shot by his son-in-law. When confronted with this evidence, Killian allegedly revised his account, stating that Carcamo Ramirez was shot during a struggle between him and Morales over the firearm. He claimed his wife ultimately committed suicide. Investigators found it suspicious that Killian was the only person in the home with gunshot residue on his hands.

Before the shooting, Killian had claimed he returned from his job as a welding inspector for PG&E around noon, consumed several beers, and then went to a nearby hotel to use the pool. He stated that his wife reacted negatively to his drinking, and he expected her and the family to join him at the hotel, which she declined. He then claimed she began shooting family members while he was in another part of the house.

Killian remains in custody without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. His arraignment has been rescheduled to August 30, and he has yet to enter a plea, according to court records.
