Sukh Deo dies in fatal Toronto shooting

Fatal Toronto shooting death of Sukh Deo – Obituary

Sukh Deo was identified by his uncle as the man shot to death in a vehicle near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East.

Sohan Deo confirmed to CBC News from Vancouver that his nephew, Sukh Deo, was the victim of the shooting on Tuesday. The incident involved a white luxury vehicle.

“The entire family is in mourning,” Sohan Deo stated.

Toronto police have not officially identified the victim, who was shot on Cowbell Lane, just east of Yonge Street and south of Eglinton Avenue East. The shooting was reported to authorities at 2:50 p.m. ET.

Rinku Ghei, a public relations officer for Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia, confirmed that Sukh Deo had been ejected from a Raptors playoff game at the Air Canada Centre on May 23 during a match against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Video footage of Deo’s removal was later posted on YouTube.

Ghei mentioned that Bhatia knew Deo only from their interactions courtside at Raptors games. Bhatia often interacts with many courtside ticket holders, including Deo, and had assisted him in purchasing the ticket for the game from which he was ejected. They did not have a relationship outside of these encounters.

A neighbor in Oakville, Ontario, who requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation, revealed that Deo moved to the neighborhood in 2012. The neighbor recounted an incident where Deo and a female companion were arrested outside his home. She also noted frequent visitors to Deo’s house and expressed concerns that the situation might turn violent.

Police are actively searching for two men who fled the scene in a black car. The suspects were described as wearing construction vests, one orange and one green.

Authorities have not disclosed the number of shots fired or confirmed if Deo was specifically targeted. However, the front of the vehicle was riddled with bullets, and it appears Deo was alone at the time of the attack.

The Vancouver Sun reported Deo as having gangster affiliations, although CBC News could not verify these claims. Deo’s criminal record in B.C. includes a conviction for resisting a peace officer in October 2012.
