Fatal Philadelphia shooting death of Akil Jones – Obituary
Akil Jones, 33, was tragically killed in a violent shooting that took place early Sunday morning in Carroll Park, Philadelphia.
The incident occurred during a block party on the 1200 block of North Alden Street, where more than 100 people were gathered when gunfire erupted around 2 a.m.
Jones, along with his brother Rashie Jones, 29, and Sakayi Robinson, 23, lost their lives in the shooting. The event also left six others injured, including Tahir Shoatz, 28, who now faces charges of homicide and aggravated assault related to the incident.
Amir Jones, 30, another suspect in the case, is sought by police. He was reportedly among those injured during the shooting and was last seen in camouflage shorts and a white T-shirt.
Authorities have recovered three firearms, 36 shell casings, and five bullets from the scene, noting that the violence stemmed from an argument.
