Fatal Shelby County shooting of Casey Deandre Smith – Obituary
On July 21, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office identified Casey Deandre Smith, a 22-year-old resident of Birmingham, as the suspect in a domestic-related shooting at 200 Shoal Run Trail.
Smith, who has been charged with first and second-degree domestic violence and attempted Class A felony, was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail the same day with no bond.
At approximately 4:18 p.m. on the day of the incident, deputies were dispatched to the scene where they found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
Emergency aid was administered until North Shelby Fire arrived, and the victim was transported to a local Birmingham hospital for surgery. The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The suspect, Casey Deandre Smith, was apprehended shortly after the incident at a nearby location. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute between individuals who were acquainted.
