On June 19, after 12:45 p.m., officers from the League City Police Department responded to a call at the Wharf Marina at Clear Lake, where they discovered 30-year-old Giselle Salazar-Tapia unresponsive on a docked boat.
Initial investigations suggest that Salazar-Tapia may have died from a drug overdose, though the official cause of death is still pending confirmation from the medical examiner.
Authorities initially suspected that Salazar-Tapia’s death occurred elsewhere and that the scene was staged to appear as a hanging.
