Fatal Carson freeway accident death of Rebecca Chavez – Obituary
Rebecca Chavez, a 42-year-old woman, tragically lost her life after being struck by a semitractor-trailer on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway in Carson.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m. Wednesday, near the Carson Street off-ramp, straddling the boundary between Carson and the unincorporated West Carson area, as reported by California Highway Patrol Officer Sean Lough.
Chavez was discovered lying in the middle lanes of the freeway and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later confirmed her identity.
The truck driver involved remained on site and is fully cooperating with the investigation. In response to the accident, the CHP issued a SigAlert, resulting in the closure of two freeway lanes while the circumstances surrounding the crash are examined.
