Fatal Morristown shooting death of Richard Cote – Obituary
Morristown police officers discovered the body of 76-year-old Richard Cote during a welfare check early Wednesday morning.
According to officials, they arrived at Cote’s residence at 813 Elmore St. around 6:30 a.m. after concerns were raised by an associate about his wellbeing.
Upon entering the home, officers found Cote deceased. The circumstances surrounding his death are being treated as suspicious, leading to an active investigation by local authorities.
The Morristown Police Department, with assistance from the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Crime Scene Search Team, is conducting the investigation.
Cote’s body
has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for further examination.
Although the investigation continues, the MPD assures the public that this incident appears to be isolated and there is no current threat to the community. Authorities are asking anyone with information about Cote’s death to contact the Morristown Police Department at 1-802-888-4211.
