Sakayi Robinson, 23, was among the victims of a devastating shooting in Carroll Park, Philadelphia, that occurred early Sunday morning.
The shooting unfolded during a block party on the 1200 block of North Alden Street, where a gathering of over 100 people was abruptly disrupted by gunfire around 2 a.m.
Robinson’s death, alongside the fatal shootings of Akil Jones, 33, and Rashie Jones, 29, has deeply impacted the community. The Jones brothers were also killed in the same incident.
The shooting, which resulted from an argument, also left six others injured. One of the injured, Tahir Shoatz, 28, faces charges of homicide and aggravated assault related to the incident.
Amir Jones, 30, a key suspect in the case, is sought by police and was among those wounded. He was last seen wearing camouflage shorts and a white T-shirt.
Authorities recovered three guns, 36 shell casings, and five bullets from the scene. They are urging anyone with information about the shooting or Jones’ whereabouts to contact Philadelphia police at (215) 686-8477 or call 911 if Jones is spotted.
Sakayi Robinson’s death, along with the recent fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jamil Wyatt in Northeast Philadelphia, underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the city. Despite these incidents, there has been a 37% decrease in homicides in 2024 compared to the previous year.
